Trediberri Barolo 2017
Trediberri Barolo 2017
Trediberri, literally meaning “the three from Berri”, is run by father-and-son team Federico and Nicola Oberto, together with their good friend Vladimiro. Their winemaking journey only started in 2007, when they purchased five hectares of vines in the hamlet of Berri, under the terracotta towers of La Morra. They follow a low-impact, organic approach to viticulture and a traditional approach in the winery; with extended macerations and ageing in large oak. The wines of Trediberri are expressive, generous and a genuine representation of their spectacular terroir.
Tasting Notes
This is a lighter, more delicate style than many 2017s. There’s a proportion of whole bunches, lifting the aromatics. Ageing is 18 months in Garbellotto botti, with further maturation in steel and cement. It’s a gleaming delight: roses, floral smoke, cherries and cayenne meet an immediately fruity palate. The finish is firm but focused. Drink 2022-2038.
Food Pairing
Braised meat, pasta with rich sauces and if you’re lucky some white truffles that grow behind the Trediberri vineyard.
