Named after a wildflower that grows around the winery, Alastro is a blend of Grecanico with a small percentage of a distinctly aromatic variety, Sauvignon Blanc. The Sicilian white variety, Grecanico, has a surprising aging capacity, with an ability to drink at once or to age for 4-5 years. The Alastro is splendidly aromatic and delicately structured, with aromas of tropical fruit, fresh citrus and white flowers.

Tasting Notes

On the nose the mineral and floral notes are perfectly integrated with each other, aromas of cedar, melon, pears and wild white flowers. Vibrant, but creamy and silky on the palate, with a white peach note.

Food Pairing 

The contrast between savory and aromatic gives this wine gastronomic strength and makes it suitable for pairing with simple dishes such as a seafood salad as well as with more complex ones, like a spicy Asian dish. It also pairs very well with Mediterranean vegetarian dishes.
