Marqués de Cáceres Gran Reserva 2014
Marqués de Cáceres Gran Reserva 2014
In 1970, Enrique Forner founded Marqués de Cáceres, Unión Vitivinícola, S.A., a historic Alliance between a region (Cenicero, La Rioja Alta), an enterprising family, the best vine growers and vineyards in La Rioja, and a Bordeaux concept which revolutionised the production and business model. Enrique had one objective - to obtain the best wines. This obsession continues to be the leitmotiv of Cristina Forner, the third generation of this wine family.
This Gran Reserva is the ultimate classic Rioja, made only in the best vintages. 24-26 months is spent in barrel, followed by a minimum of 4 years aged in bottle before release and yet this wine can age for years to come.
Tasting Notes
Dense, dark ruby red colour. On the nose, notes of fresh cream, blackcurrant jam and black cherries with a delicate depth of refined oak and a touch of spice. Nice tannic structure in the mouth enveloping dark, fleshy fruits of the forest that blend together in an unctuous and luscious texture making this a very full wine on tasting. Charming with delicious flavours that linger on the palate.
Food Pairing
A big Rioja like this needs a big food to stand by it. Think T-Bone steaks, rib-eyes and veal chops.
