Thanks to its 55 hectares of superb gravelly vineyards, Smith Haut Lafitte is often referred to as the "archetypical Graves." The estate's history goes back to the Crusades, and a Scottish navigator, George Smith, who became the owner of the estate in the 18th century. He was followed by M. Duffour-Dubergier, Mayor of Bordeaux, and then Louis Eschenauer, a famous wine shipper. Château Smith Haut-Lafitte, an estate that was literally reborn starting from 1990 when Florence and Daniel Cathiard became the owners. One of the best second wines of Cru Classés in the Pessac-Léognan appellation. The highest assurance of quality for professionals and wine lovers - their second wine “Les Hauts de Smith” benefits from the best cares both in the vineyard and in the cellar.

Tasting Notes

A very expressive wine with rich, spicy and toasted notes, alongside delicate tannins. A 14-month ageing in oak barrels (20% new) that are crafted at Château Smith Haut-Lafitte. 2015, a marvelous vintage in the Bordeaux region. The currants and blackberries on the nose are very impressive with wet-earth and lavender undertones. Full body and super-integrated tannins that melt into the wine. The quality of the tannins is incredible with fantastic length and mouthfeel. So much concentration and balance at the same time.
