Joseph Drouhin Givry 2019
Joseph Drouhin Givry 2019
Domaine Joseph Drouhin is one of the oldest, most respected wine producers in the Burgundy region, established in Beaune by the enterprising Joseph Drouhin in 1880, at the tender age of just 22, when he took control of a merchant business which itself dated back to 1756. Joseph’s sole focus was quality, and he invested heavily in his vineyards to ensure a supply of top quality fruit.
2019 has kept the promise of quality of Burgundian vintages ending in 9. The beautiful maturities have provided ample and silky wines. They are charming and full of delicacy.
Tasting Notes
A round and seductive wine, appreciated by all wine connoisseurs. With its lively and bright colour, it has intense fruity aromas reminiscent of gooseberry and black currant, evolving towards spicy nuances as the wine gets older. On the palate, there is a nice balance between texture and finesse, with firm but refined tannins. Long and enticing aftertaste, with flavors of very ripe fruit.
Food Pairing
The combination of ripe fruit and added depth make this a superb match for fine charcuterie such as saucisson and pates, beef-based dishes and many soft cheeses including Camembert.
