Flaco Tempranillo 2018
Flaco Tempranillo 2018
Vinos Atlántico (previously CVA) was founded in 2002 with the purpose of uniting the winemaking heritage of Alberto Orte and Patrick Mata’s families. Both of their families have been producing wine, independently, throughout Spain since the late 1800s. It currently produces wines in 18 different appellations within the Iberian Peninsula. Its fundamental mission is to discover new production areas, unique soils and to recover native varieties, always in search of great vineyard-sites that can produce consistently superior wines compared to neighboring vineyards.
'Flaco' translates to 'dude' in English and sets the tone of the bottle as an easy going, easy drinking and affordable Tempranillo. The dry farmed vines were planted from 1995-2000 upon clay soils at 750 m (2,400 ft) of elevation. The grapes come from Arganda and Navalcarnero districts located southeast and west of Madrid and experience extremely warm days and cool nights with minimal rainfall.
Tasting Notes
Brilliant ruby-red. A highly perfumed nose evokes ripe red berries and floral pastilles, and a hint of white pepper lends a spicy touch. Plush, seamless and gently sweet, offering raspberry and cherry compote flavors that become more energetic on the back half. Emphatically fruity and supple in texture, finishing with just a hint of smooth, harmonious tannins.
Food Pairing
The fresh, pure character of this wine makes this an extremely versatile wine to pair with food. This wine pairs well with white meats and flaky fish like sea bass, cod or hamour. This has the fruit and acidity to match with red meats, as well.
