Querciabella Camartina Toscana Rosso 2012
Querciabella Camartina Toscana Rosso 2012
Giuseppe (Pepito) Castiglioni, an industrial entrepreneur and lifelong wine lover bought a single hectare of a vineyard on a Tuscan hillside and set about creating an estate that now spans the breadth of the region. The name Querciabella means "Beautiful Oaks" as the vineyards in Ruffoli and Radda are surrounded by wonderful oak trees. Querciabella’s commitment to creating extraordinary wines, without causing harm or disrupting the delicate balance of nature, will not waiver. It is this commitment that makes their wines as lively and beautiful as their land, and it is how they will continue to innovate and to inspire for decades to come. But the real secret is in the soil, the very same from which grow the mightiest of oaks.
Tasting Notes
The 2012 Camartina is bright, focused and nuanced throughout. This is an especially classy, understated Camartina that retains lovely freshness for a warm vintage. Lavender, rose petal, spice and plums give the 2012 its exotic aromatics and striking perfume. Medium in body and super-polished, the 2012 should reward consumers with a long drinking window. The blend is 70% Cabernet Sauvignon and 30% Sangiovese.
Food Pairings
Querciabella's original Super Tuscan demands a dish with substance, it is serious and structured with finesse. There is a variety of dishes you can play around with, we like Camartina with Moroccan roasted vegetables, any dish with chickpeas, or even a Coq au Vin with thyme scented roasted vegetables.
